In Muscatine on Saturday, March 21, 1953, Dale wrote, “Mother, Marie, Susan, and Nancy came over at 4 p.m. to stay all night. I got my seventh hormone shot from Dr. Miller. Got the car loaded to go to St. Paul tomorrow.” He was going to his new but short-lived Post of Duty in St. Paul. Marie was Dale’s sister, Susan was Marie’s daughter, and Nancy was a daughter of Dale’s brother Lloyd. Above: Helen and Dale in warmer 1953 weather.
