Bedfast in Muscatine on Saturday, March 7, 1953, Dale wrote, “Lavonne took Helen downtown. Marie called, Lloyd and Mother coming on the train. Got here at 8:30 p.m. Watched TV awhile and then to bed.” Marie and Lloyd were Dale’s siblings. Lavonne was the wife of Dale’s co-worker Jack Owens. Thirty years later, Lavonne and Jack (center) visited Helen and Dale in Osceola, above.
